MTH 441 is the introductory course for partial differential equations.
The object is to present an elementary treatment of the most important
topics of the theory together with applications to problems from the
physical sciences and engineering.
This course is designed for undergraduate students and some graduate students
majored in mathematics and engineering.
At the same time it provides a good basis for those students who will pursue the study of more advanced topics.
Separation of vatiables, Fourier series and integral transforms are the most important
analytical tools discussed. Several nonstandard topics, such calculs of variations,
potential theory, and integral equations, are also discussed. Some basic numerical treatments will be introduced.
