Advanced Calculus and Applications I
(MTH 437, Fall 2001)

Advanced Calculus and Applications II
(MTH 438, Spring 2002)

Prerequisite: MTH 243 for MTH 437, MTH 437 for MTH 438.

Textbooks:

MTH 437 and MTH 438 are intended for a one-year course in the calculus of functions of several variables, vector analysis, and Fourier series. Much of the basic theory as well as many concrete examples will be presented. These two courses have been revised to make them more useful to stdents of applied mathematics, physical science, and engineering. Intuitive understanding and computational skills are important at this level. Besides covering most chapters from text books, extra materials about sequences, series, uniform convergence, Fourier series, Laplace transforms will be provided.

MTH 437 covers the first six chapters from the text book, together with some extra materials beyonds the text.

Grading Policy: Weekly homework 50%; Mid term and Final 25% each.

Homework: Homework problems are assigned every Wednesday, due on the following Wednesday. The instructor will grade some problems.
